Therapy NI Clinical Psychology Services
Terms and Conditions
Professional Practice
We are Chartered Clinical Psychologists registered with the British Psychological Society (BPS) and the Health and Care Professions Council. As such we are obliged to comply with the Codes of Practice set out by these organisations.
Confidentiality
All information provided by you will be treated as confidential. However, there are some limits to confidentiality which include the following:
If maintaining confidentiality may result in harm to yourself, your child or others then we are obliged to disclose information. We are bound by statutory and professional codes of conduct to act in these instances.
We cannot withhold information when required to provide it by social services or other legal process.
Our work is subject to professional supervision and as part of this we discuss the content of sessions with our supervisors in order to ensure that my work is of high quality and we are as effective as possible in our work with clients. Supervision sessions are covered under a professional agreement.
Payment
The full fee must be paid 48 hours in advance of your appointment. This is £115 for Initial Assessment and £115 for follow up appointments. The fee for one-off Consultation is £130. If you are using health insurance, you may be liable for any excess not covered by your insurance policy. Additional services such as liaison with schools, other professionals and report writing are charged on a pro-rata basis.
Cancellations and Missed Appointments
If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, then please give as much notice as possible so that we can reallocate the slot to another person. In the event of sessions missed or cancelled with less than 48 hours’ notice then the full session fee will be charged as we will be unable to reallocate the slot. We will give as much notice as possible if we need to re-arrange your appointment time. We will only cancel at short notice due to unforeseen circumstances, such as illness. In the case of Health Insurance cover, you may be liable for any cost incurred due to non-attendance or cancelled appointments.
Ending Therapy
It is important that together we continually review progress and plan how best to proceed. You are free to end your work with us at any time. However, if possible it is helpful that this is done in a clear and planned way. If there are too many disruptions to therapy (such as missed appointments) we will need to try to understand this and consider if the timing is right for therapeutic engagement. In some cases, therapy will be brought to an end if a successful resolution cannot be found.
Risk Management
If any risk concerns arise within an appointment such as a person expressing suicidal thoughts and feelings we will discuss this in detail and agree a risk management plan. Most often this will include informing next of kin, a carer, parent or family member. If concerns about risk of harm arise between appointments it is important that you discuss this with your GP or social services department. Please do not email us regarding urgent matters as we work part time and might not pick this information up in a timely manner.
