Parent Consultation
The Parent Consultation service involves both elements of assessment and intervention and is designed to offer parents a space to talk about their concerns regarding their child, develop a further understanding of their difficulties and needs, and consider options for support and intervention. These are one-hour, stand-alone appointments although follow-up consultations might be appropriate and can be arranged.
There are several reasons why a parent consultation might be helpful:
My child is too young to engage in psychological therapy.
My child or teenager is unwilling to engage directly with therapy.
As a parent, I need guidance and support in understanding my child and responding to them in helpful ways.
I need a space to figure out what is the next best step for my child/us as a family.
My child is on a waiting list for therapy but I would value some support in the interim.
As parents we recognise the need to address issues in how we are parenting our child.
